Nori Clips

Hey reefers,

Just wondering what you all use for Nori clips and how much nori to use at a time?

I am currently just using a plastic close pin suctioned to my magfloat. I only have one small yellow tang and just wondering how much Nori I should use / leave in the tank at a time?

I left about 1/8 of a sheet yesterday dinner time and ended up removing about half at lunchtime today, as the water was getting cloudy.

1/8 of a sheet is kind of relative IMO..
I'd only put a 2" x 2" piece in and he would just eat most of it right up (medium size yellow tang)..
I never let it sit/rot in the tank for more than a few hours..
But thats me and it normally just ate regular fish pellets every other day.. the nori was just a "treat"

Not sure what you have up there in Canuckland but I'd buy nori at Japanese grocery stores or in the Japanese section of the regular grocery store if they had it.. SO much cheaper than the stuff the "fish stores" sell and its the same thing.. I'd just get plain unseasoned.. (a few times I fed Sesame flavored nori. he he )

I don't use the suction cup on my clips. I tied some 2 lbs test fishing line to mine and mounted the line to my canopy. That way I don't have to put my hands in my tank and it is really easy to get in and out. I do about a 1/4 sheet and pull it out after a few hours regardless of how much is left.

I use the mag clip by two little fishes. Kinda pricey if you ask me but they last a long time. I spent so much on the suction cup ones and they would give out too quickly and I had to go swimming everytime I placed it. Went big but I love love love it. Just slide to the surface pull out the old add new. Never get wet.

As for your fish not eating much, try rubbing it to start to disperse in the water then put it in the clip. Tangs don't have clips in the wild, we often have to train them to find the food there in our tanks. I know it makes a mess but it's only take a few times and they start to get the hang of it. No mater the size of you tang 2x2 square should definitely have a big dent if not be gone in a day.

Nori should not be considered a "treat" for tangs. It is vital to there diet. They are herbivores and meaty foods should be the treat.

Just cut the stuff up or tear into small pieces, mix in a small amount of tank water, and pour in. Clips are a waste of time.
