Normal Pistol Behavior?

Well last night i got a Pistol shrimp. after the release into the tank, he started digging like crazy underneath this one rock and i saw him frequently shoveling sand with his claws and my tank got very cloudy . well he did that for about an hour and then today i cant see him. Is this normal that he would stay in his burrow and not come out?

Sounds pretty normal to me. Mine was extremely shy until I got him a goby to pair with. I saw very little of him after he dug a burrow, just occasional glimpses when he ventured out to grab some food. Once he paired with his goby, his personality changed entirely; now the two of them are out and about, digging and foraging all day.
