Northwest Ohio Reefers?

Hi all. I have been perusing these forums for about a year now gathering information and waiting to close on my new house (2 weeks!) so that I may set up my 125g reef. Being from Toledo, I have noticed that there seems to be a lack of local support in my immediate area for this hobby.

I attended the LEAR swap and was very impressed. It was a very well put together event with what I thought to be a nice turnout. Anyways, the reason for my post, and forgive me if I am stepping on toes here, but do any of you know of a club more local to Toledo that is active like you guys are?

There seems to be a ton of activity here, It just seems like everyone is a few hours from Toledo. Thanks for any input you guys may have.

Isnt Dayton and Toledo totally opposite sides of ohio? Lol

I would think if anything the Cleveland clubs would be closer, although still hour or more apart. My ex was from toledo\temperance, about a 2.5hrs drive to get to her parents from where I live if im not mistaken, but again that was more closer to Michigan and im about an hour south of Cleveland

Yeah, Toledo is definitely closer to the Cleveland burbs than Dayton, but still 90-100 miles, I was just hoping for some local people. (Not that there is anything wrong with you guys!!) There used to be some local clubs here but they don't last long, surprised the reef market isn't bigger here is all I guess.

FYI - there is a new LFS on Secor in Toledo, north of Franklin Park Mall area called Aquarium Masterminds (across from the St Anne's Hospital area) - just opened and they are getting ready to expand greatly. Hubby and I stopped in there recently to pick up some astrea snails. The owner was very friendly, and the store was MUCH cleaner than the usual LFS we go to. There are really only 2 in the area. Hopefully this place will turn out to be our future "go-to"!!! :)

It would be nice. Everything else in the area sucks. Fingers crossed! 🤞
