Not exactly new

I'm not new to the hobby. I've just been away from it for about 5 years. So I am new to the recent technology. I was thinking of setting up a small tank I had on hand. It's 20 X 20 X18. 18 being the height. Roughly 31 gallons.
I've been lurking a couple of days looking for info. I'm interested in the EcoTech Radion XR30w. I'm seeing mixed reviews, I'm not sure what the coverage is of one XR30w, and also appropriate bulb count/tank size. For the tank size I'm looking at, would that lighting system be overkill/under done? The tank will be bare bottom w a remote DSB.
I was looking at this because I like the idea of the controllable light cycles, lights & pumps running off of a controller w the battery back up (I'm planning 2 MP10w as additional water movement).
The tank will be SPS and maybe limited fish. I don't plan on adding any water to the tank until September. Coral, probably not for a year after that. I have all the auto top off & auto water changers, dosing pumps, heater, chiller, etc. from my old set up. At the moment, I'm just looking for info on the EcoTech stuff.
BTW, I'm really not interested in T5. Id rather do a 150w MH before I did T5. Just my opinion, nothing more. Thank you in advance for any help, including directing me to any links I've missed while lurking.

I have seen a Radium and a AI sol over each half of a 75gl 48" long tank. IMO neither had what I call great lighting. Both manufacters claim they have a spread of 24" and led's will fool you so probably 24" is about right, but I would say 18" would be more like it.

FYI, I'm a Becket skimmer fanatic (5 years ago) & now notice everyone advises cone skimmers. Moderators, move me to the new guy forum, I won't be offended. Some of what I've been reading has gone a long way in 5 years. The days are long, the years are short.

I will say thank you to gbru316, USC-fan & Marc, your experience is welcome. It will be a long time before this tank is running. One thing I've learned in this hobby is patience.
