I have been keeping fish for years, I also have a koi pond but I am new to saltwater. The wife was tired of my African cichlids and wanted something colorful so I decided it was finally time to try saltwater. I went with a 36 gallon bow front with an HOB skimmer, 30 pounds of liverock from premium aquatics (great customer service by the way), 2 600gph powerheads. I originally was going to do a deep sand bed but decided to only go 3 to 3 1/2 inches because I want a watchman goby/ shrimp combo.. I got the ho to5 corallife light 4 bulb with the led moonlight. Tank has been done cycling for about a week, was more of a mini cycle (tested every day), I guess the liverock held up good during shipping.
Only one question so far since google turns up nothing. If I have and coral hitch hikers how long will they take to appear? I did have a snail hitchhiker which made it through the cycle. Yesterday I added a few more clean up crew.
