Not your EVERYDAY fuge light question.....

Ok so I have been running a "Melev" fuge light on my tank since the start. I came across a K2 Viper 70w MH..... So it went over my fuge. I plan to keep a frag rack at the top of the fuge, so this light was perfect.

Ok so now the question. I dont want to run the 400w MH's on the tank longer than 6 hours. I normally run my "Melev" light for the remainder of the day to help my PH level stay stable. I dont want to run the 70w MH for 18 hours a day...... So I was thinking about running the 70W MH for 6 hours after the tank lights go out and then the "Melev" light for the last 12 hours. Is this a waste of time and is it really worth all the trouble?

Thanks
Dustin

IMHO that would work out OK but you may want the other light on for only another 6 hours or so unless you only keep the display lights on for 6 hours. The only reason for the 70MH is for the corals. Is there some reason you can't keep the coral frags in the display? Seems like a waste to put them in the fuge or get a small frag tank and put the MH over that.

I live in a 3 bedroom town house, so I dont have the space for another tank. My fuge is large.... Will the macro go better under the MH? I also dont like to see frag racks or frags just layin in the display tank.

Thanks
Dustin

Believe me I understand. I live in a 2 bedroom condo and space is limited. Can you do it in a sump/fuge, sure. Will it effect the alage in the fuge, I reaalt don't know. I wouldn't think it would as long as the light isn;t too close to the top of the fuge. I have a HOB Aquafuge because of space limitations and I don't want the chance of overflowing problem (I'm on the second floor). I have the light schedule on alternating day/displat and night/fuge. About 12 and 12 for each. All you can do is try it but hopefully someone else with much more experience will chime in.
