NPS growth

Hello. Well my DW bought a dendro and its my first NPS coral. My question is how do NPS reproduce and how can I tell if this is happening?

Dendronephthya or Dendrophyllia? Dendrophyllia will grow by producing new polyps, which will be quite obvious. I doubt you'll see them reproduce sexually in an aquarium. Those more knowledgeable can address Dendronephthya.

Just happened to have a picture of my dendro poppin out babies. Few days again suddenly was poppin out 5-6 heads at the same time!!!

You can see two of them at the bottom left of the dendro

For the sake of not making duplicate topics and since we already have a thread started on this...

Is this some new growth starting on a sun polyp??

Looks like new suns. You should notice little feeding tentacles appear soons. Its also surprising just how fast they grow into adult polyps.

Should have said you see sexual spawing with suns quite often, at least mine and several friends seem to. Although this seems to be with the orange or yellow species.

Cherry Corals caught theirs spawning on video:

Well, I certainly sit corrected. Apparently these things spawn without difficulty. I'll be looking for spawning action in my tank. Learn something every single day.

Todd will do anything to get people to his booth! :) They for sure spawn as I have two babies like 2 mm in size clear across my tank from mine. they just appeared one day. They have doubled in size over the last three weeks. See them under the favites:
