Hello All,

I got this today at a local lfs, gave it to me. Now I need to see if it's a good one or a bad one. I know they are diet pacific but I wouldn't mind letting it live out it's life in my tank since there is no ocean near Ohio to set it free.

No I wasn't there when the shippment came in. How ever the tank we got it out of has mostly Favias and Monti and digi Corals. If I remember right. All of the Live Stock looks good. When we found it, it was hanging down off one of the frags like it was hunting for some thing to eat. Wasn't munching on it.

Me to, I went to one web site and looked at 449 pictures of different one's and not one of them looked like mine. I just built a holding container for it and hope to get an id on it soon.

It's certainly beautiful but as has been stated above it likely has a very specific diet and will not live long. Even if it was free it may have been a bad idea to accept it as many nudibranchs sequester toxins from their food for their own chemical defense. If it dies or appears to be dying, remove the corpse. I believe it is in the Suborder Doridina and probably in the family Dorididae. You can go through this list and try to identify it visually. http://www.seaslugforum.net/specieslist.cfm

Heck I dont even see it in the Suborder Doridina. AHH.
I have now looked at 1/2 of all of those.

I have lost count on how many pictures I have gone through. One web site had 449 and not one of them was close.
I went through all of the Doridina family and a little under half of the Chromodorididae family and nothing.
Back too the pictures.....
And again than you for all the help and searching through the pictures to help me.

That leeds me to belive that we have a new type of nudi!

I now agree with you kmk2307 that it is in Suborder Doridina. I hope that all that helped somehow, Tim

I was looking at this group Chromodoris decora and was thinking that there could be a possible canidate, I was kind of thinking number 8 in the group of pictures.
If it is a new one, will they name it after me
Thank you every one!!

wow, man its a shame nudis cant be easily kept. they are one of them most beautiful creatures in the sea. i had 4 nudis pop up in my tank about a year ago that were exactly the same to the t except the purple stripes were an electric sky blue. they came out at night for about a week and suddenly disappeared shortly after. good luck in keeping yours.
