Nudibranches

Aiptasia, do I need to say anything else. I am planning to move my tank this week, which means a full breakdown. Before I breakdown the tank I would love to ge them under control. Does anyone know who has Nudibranches in stock?

I would recommend peppermint shrimp. We use them at Reefs Edge on customers tanks to get rid of aptasia and it works like a charm. You need at least 5 and don't leave/overfeed any food or they will never eat the aptasia.

I recommend against the aptaisia eating nudis. They are $ 15.00 to $ 20.00 each and if you get one or two, they will starve travelling from one aptaisia to the other.
Peppermint shrimp will take care of them, unless your Aptaisias are gigantic. I think Reef Life sells them 5 for $ 10.00 or something like that.
I did special order nudis from Pat last year, we where trying to bread them (not too successfully), he might still be able to get you some, if you really want them.

Dont mind me sliding in and asking a question about nudis,

I thought they were extremely poisonous? also what to feed them, do they ONLY eat aptasia? if so i wont buy them. just love those colors:rollface:

also, i heard that they BECOME poisonous only if they die, True or False?

thanks

well some species of slugs, nudibranchs, cucumbers, sea apples, and box/cowfish can all become toxic when they die in a aquarium

most nudi's are specialized feeders, which means they eat only one things, weather its a type of coral, algae, sponge etc you would have to consult a expert, a good book, or my personal favorite seaslugfourm.com

and as for the aptasia, i also recomend the peppermint shrimps, buy quite a few and if you dont want to keep them permanatly your going to be tearing down your tank anyways, then you can find them a home in the club or just trade them in to your fav LFS.
