Ok, I just read a thread of a guy who couldnt get color in his acros and everyone was telling him he needed more nutrients. I have always been trying to get rid of them! How much are we talking, and of which particular nutrients? Both my phosphates and nitrates are undetectable, but I know theres some. If I have a small amount of soft algae on the glass which I wipe off about once a week, do I have enough? Too much? Pros and cons would be awesome

Unless your corals are bleached out, do not worry about it. I would only recommend increasing feedings/nutrients if your corals are losing color. NOT browning...there is a big difference.

I see...corals which I bring home from a lfs tend to brown slightly when in my tank for about a month (Im working on that). Is this nutrient levels being too high?

There is difference between feeding your corals, and letting them sit in rotting waste.

Corals need food; a fair amount. This food, however, if uneaten, will quickly break down and create an over abundance of nutrients in the tank.

The trick is to feed the corals, and then export what isnt eaten.

Some nutrients are needed. But as King-Kong said, corals will acquire (at least in nature) the vast majority of this from food.

I think this is definitally worth repeating.
