Nyos 160 getting louder

Hi,

I bought the Nyos Quantum 160 about 4 months ago, since I thought my Skimz was too loud. I read a dozen reviews and saw lots of videos of skimmers, before I bought this one.
IMO, it was a bit over my normal budget for a skimmer. But since the skimmer would be very silent, and very efficient, I took the plunge. And boy, was I happy! I am very sensitive to noise, and this one performed, and was silent!

But now, over the past few weeks, the skimmer is starting to make a lot of noise! Last week i disassembled it, cleaned it and put it back together. That made it silent for a day. Now we're back.

It I turn it off, and turn it back on after a few minutes, it is silent for 5min, and then get noisy again.
Anyone else tried this? It is very frustrating!:hmm2:

It sounds like the pump it self. Like its struggeling. Like a rumble, mixed with some air from the baffle. I didnt change anything, since I ran it in. I tightened all the screws, cleaned the pump, cleaned all of the acryllic.

Im at the point, where I am consideren only running it at night, and when we're at work..

It's in the sump of a Reefer 350.

Any advice?

I have one it's dead silent, is the lid rattling? That's the only thing that makes noise on mine. Are all the lmpeller pins ok, maybe the impeller is out of balance, call ecotech. Maybe they will send you one
