o. scyllarus - Peacock Mantis feeding

I have a 4" Peacock Mantis that I have had for about 3 months now. In reading through several of the threads, I see that many of you feed your Mantis Shrimps frozen diet. I was originally feeding frozen krill and silversides, wouldn't eat the silversides, and eventually stopped eating the krill. I have been putting hermits and snails in his/her tank. The crabs go quickly, but the snails are not on the menu of favorites.

At first I put the dozen crabs in the tank with him, but he was eating several a day. Can they over eat?

Hahah, good one. I'd like to know the answer to this one. One night I fed my Peacock 5 whole krill just to see if he would actually eat them all and to my suprise he did. I really don't know if he would have atken more. He's worse than my dogs.

I would try "starving" your mantis for a few days, and then introducing other frozen meats, like squid, scallop, and shrimp. A varied diet is very important. Plus, live food is not particularly economically viable.

haha 5 whole krill is nothing my peacock went through 25 astrea snails in 3 days, IME peacocks do this kind of thing to on purpose mostly because they are getting ready to molt (what mine did)
