We were already certified when we were in Ohau but we dove with Honolulu Scuba Company and Captian Mac. Great dives, great boat, really awesome DM's (who were also instructors)
Have a GREAT time! If you're there long enough to be comfortable with some deep dives, the Sea Tiger rocks
Other things---I'll be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Oahu (maybe because we'd just spent a week on the Big Island) but Hanauma Bay was great! We just snorkled there but I really enjoyed it. Dukes, while kind of cheesey, really is good food!
Hey I can't be picky, work is sending me here for free (just arrived). Thanks for the ref i will give them a call. I hope to get to the big island for at least a few days.
Heh. I'd take Oahu for free anytime! It's truly beautiful there, just a little too touristy for me.
If you get to the Big Island and have some time, go diving in Kona. It's so amazing there. We did 6 dives with Wanna Dive Kona
It was my first set of ocean dives and they were really great.
Have fun! Eat lots of fruit--I miss how yummy it is there.
I did a boat dive with the Aquazone group (Scuba Experience). It was awesome and the dive master (Jason Jones) was really cool. He also is a scuba instructor. You can reach him at 808-923-DIVE (3483) or check him out at www.scubaoahu.com. You will not be disappointed.
Give Ocean Concepts a call. Jim and Liz are great people and the instructors and DMs are extremely helpful. Jim runs an awesome shop. They are located just down the road from the Memorial at Pearl Harbor. http://www.oceanconcepts.com/
If you're on the other side of the island (Kanehoe) look Bob up at Oahu Dive Center http://www.oahudivecenter.com. Very fun group of knowledgeable folks. No matter what, HAVE FUN!! It is a fabulous place to dive.
One more bit of useful info: Hawaii doesn't have snakes! So go hiking to the waterfalls and jump in.
