Ocean water

I don't like my son to go in the sound for that very reason. Not only is run-off a problem, but one of the hurricanes in the past 10 years filled in a split to the barrier island that allowed the water to drain properly. Now the only two outlits to the Gulf of Mexico are over 20 miles apart and I live in the center section. Build up is nasty and residents are patitioning to reopen the pass. With that said I have used water from the gulf, but it was from out past a pier and pulled from under 5 feet of sand. Shore water is nasty and sound and bay waters are worse. I hope the report encourages some water quality improvements.

So funny, I had read that article this morning. Was very troubled to see that Avalon Beach, NJ was a very poor rating. I was just there last week on vacation. Yuck. Good thing the water was too cold to swim in....

The 2 stores closest to me here in S FL use NSW which I buy at sixty cents/gallon. I'm going to close my eyes and pretend they go WAY out into the deep Atlantic to get their water--and not just filling up at the sewer drain.....

I've been using sea water for over 5yrs. The fish and corals grow! Though I've never seen they company that delivers my water tells me that they filter it through carbon sand micron plete and uv. If you can get it, and it's clean, I think it's the only way to go.

We are spoiled here in San Diego. We can get it from Scripps Institute right by the pier. They run it through sand filters, but no UV or anything else. Free and convenient.

just 2 weeks ago i started going to the beach to get my water. no filtering, just adjust alk,mag cal and dump in. i noticed it smells kinda funky. dont see any negative effects.
