Hello I had heard a rumor that all oceanic glass tanks that were over 50g and a 30x18" front pane were going to be coming with starphire fronts.. Has anyone heard this?? Can anyone substantiate this?

I'm currently in the market for a 50g glass tank or something close in size but might hold out for a oceanic if the above is true...

I'm not sure about that but my 50G tank the glass is almost as white as Starphire glass. :D

I think they mentioned that the bottoms will not be made from tempered glass either so will be safe to drill...

The TECH series have Starphire glass front and sides. But I think you're talking about the new series that is comming out soon. The new tanks will have Starphire for just the front. I was looking at some TECH tanks today and this is what I've been told by the owner.

Sweeet.. I'm going to have to wait for the new series to come out.. Hopefully they will be of an attractive price point....

They say it should be cheaper than the TECH series. The TECH 120g is $875 and the TECH 40g is about $500 - expensive!

Only 3 sides are Starphire. But the tank has built in overflow and smoked back. So, although it's not cheap, the price is really just right.
Just expensive for my pocket, I guess. :D

$875 for a 120G starphire tank is not bad at all.

My local shop was telling me that the new oceanic line is called the "ultimate." It comes in 50 gallon or larger aquariums with the front panel coming stock with starfire. Prices seemed reasonable when we were comparing equal sizes from standard oceanics to this new line of oceanics with the starfire.

Yeah, just saw those tanks and they look really great. Exotic had them on sale for less than 800. While expensive, they are much cheaper than getting one made and shipped.
