Ocelaris/Clarkii compatiblity

Hi,

I am currently setting-up a 65gal tank, filtration through live rock, power filter and venturi skimmer. I read a billion threads and a couple of books but I am unable to find the answer to the following:
Would a pair of ocelaris and a pair of clarkii be able to cohabitate in the same tank, assuming I provide clearly defined aquascaping and 2 BTA?
The reason I'd like to have those 2 species is that I only want aquacultured species within my tank, and there are not a lot of them. And, of course I am not planning to add the fish right away, but I want to plan wisely and have a kind of a "match plan" ready for when I can ad the clown, in 6 months or so.
Also: in order to increase the chaces of hosting in the anemone(s), is it better to introduce the anemone first, or the clown?
I look forward to hearing from your expertise!

I really don't see that working, and I see yourself only having a pair of clarkiis when all is said and done.

My mated pair of clarkiis started off as 3 clarkiis (( before I knew better )), they killed off the odd ball. Then they wouldn't even allow a 3 stripe damsel out of the corner of the tank --- guess it looked enough like another clown.

Should note that my pair is pretty mellow overall for Clarkiis, and yet they still act this way.

Whooops, very good point! I will stay with my Ocelaris. This said, would 2 pair of Ocelaris tolerate each other, or would it be too much in a 65g?

although the end may not be as violent with 2 pair of Occy's , I think it will be the same conclusion. 1 pair of clowns in a 65.

yea i have a pair of mated clarkii's and after observing their behaviors ..i would never try to introduce anything like another clownfish species into my tank. my clarkii's would make quick work of them im sure.

You'd actually be surprised at how many aquacultured fish you can get, but it may take a bit of searching. You definitely aren't limited to just clownfish and cardinals. People are breeding gobies, pseudochromis, jawfish, grammas, dwarf angels, etc.

Thanks Michelle!

I looked at the list they have on Saltwaterfish.com but tahy didn'T have that much aquacultured. I know you can find royal grammas for instance, but I didn't find any so far. Any suggestion? (It might be stupid question, but I really have an issue with taking a little nemo out of the sea :-(, too much TV watching!)

It's not stupid at all. I can't say I have no fish from the ocean, but I started a website about captive breeding clownfish a couple of weeks ago, so I'm one of those bleeding heart types too. :D

Anyway, most places that sell ORA fish will have things like the captive bred fridmani. Inland Aquatics has several other types of fish. If you are looking for things most online stores don't have, post a wanted ad on MOFIB
