Octopus extreme 160 pump noisy

Hi,
I've tried to find an answer about my noisy pump in the Owners thread but there's just too many posts.

I have a Octopus extreme 160 which skims well but the pump is so noisy. No rattling noise or problems starting. Just soooo noisy.

Is this nornal? I can hear it from the other side of the house even with the stand doors closed.

Any suggestions on how to make it less noisy?

how long has it been setup? I bought a cleaned used one and it was really loud for a couple days and then quieted down quite a bit, still makes some noise but not loud.

can the pump be up against the black plastic pice of the skimmer or touching the glass of the sump? That can make the pump sound loud, happens to my return pump sometimes, i just have to move it a lil.

i have the same skimmer and it was very quiet untill i did the 4 layer mesh mod

also make sure its not touching the edge of the tank, the vibrations make a humming noise.

You can take the pump apart and make sure everything is intact and the impeller in not damaged. You can also try a different pinwheel or mod to make it quieter.

When the pinwheel or impeller is off balance, its 50% louder than normal.

make sure the screw on the bubble plate is really tight, I thought my pump was loud also but found that this was the problem
