So about a week ago I got a yasha goby and a candy stripe pistol to pair with it. They found each other after a few days and seemed happy and healthy, other than the goby being really shy, but that seemed normal.
Then the shrimp started to close off their burrow. Now it seems their front door, the one the goby likes to hang out at, is a hole in the live rock, and about 3 inches above the sandbed.
I'm not worried about the goby, he loves it there. It's the shrimp, he can't really access the sand in front of their burrow to get food. I see him come out onto the rock work and try to get some food when I feed them, but the goby usually swims out and eats anything that might make its way to the shrimp.
Is this normal? I thought the hole point of this relationship was for the shrimp to make a burrow for them to live in. Mine just seem to squat in a pre-made cave system.
Also, how much should I be spot feeding the candy stripe pistol shrimp? I'm pretty sure the only food he manages to get is what i spot feed him. He's still pretty small, maybe 1.25 inches.
