you can put as many as you want. but heres the deal. in clown fish world. there are groups in each group there are one female and one male and the rest are unsexed juviniles. they are all born as unsexed juviniles. then the two biggest toughest ones turn in 2 males they fight and the one that wins is the female. if some how 2 males were put in a tank together the would do the same. if 2 females were put in atank together well they would fight to the death.
juvi can turn in to males, males can turn in to females, females cant go back to male or males cant turn in to juvi and juvi cant turn straight in to females.
most people get pairs. to aviod getting 2 males and or 2 females they normally try to get a female and a juvi. normally at the lfs theyll keep there clowns in one tank you pic the biggest one and the smallest one.
if you do want a group this is hat youll have to do. wait ontill they just get there shipment in so they have tons. normally there will be a obvious male and female and alot of juvis. you want to get the biggest one in the group. that will be the female. the next biggest one that they will have might be a female too and you dont want to risk it. so the get the third biggest. so far youre getting the bigg est one and third biggests one. and lets say you wanted 5 clowns in your group then you would get the three smallest clowns in the whole group at the lfs to make sure theyre juvis. so again the biggest, third biggest and three smallest.
