Do you do linux system admin?

unfortunatley mostly suse right now:( More redhat down the road. Primary focus is solaris.

How about that more sys admins! I used to be a Solaris admin but almost strictly Linux (SuSE and Gentoo) these days. Mainly maintain a very large Linux cluster along with the NetApp storage.

I just think Novell screwed up suse; their suppport sux. I never used gentoo so can't comment. Like I said mostly solaris and a little HPUX and AIX mixed with the Linux.

It's always good to know whose a true geek ;)

Ummmm.... Bob? At a fish nerd gathering it takes a LOT to be the biggest geek. Seriously. You'll have to up your game.

Wow look at all the nerds we have in our club! I live the nerd life too.

I used to install networks on my own on Queens/Brooklyn, till I started a web hosting company with a friend I also sold PC hardware in the wholesale market for a few years. Then I got a real job for a corporation and was a senior network administrator doing NT domain and exchange work. Eventually managed Field IT Serivices, then the Enterprise Network Dept, then the Unix/AS400/NT Dept.

At this point I think I have configed or managed all things IT except Mainframe (yuk!)

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!

Did Network support for a school district / Unix back end support for everyones Cellphones here and canada and over seas / and now im doing backend support for Cablevisions OV services.

Did IT/web design/graphics for acompany and then decided that was too nerdy, so I started working in an R and D lab.

Hey..... that didn't help much did it?

Validation for what? I am facing a huge number of equipment and process validations, and our company doesn't have a dedicated validation engineer, so they are falling to me. I've been trying to convince them that it will be cheaper and faster to bring someone in.
