Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
Noticed a trend here lately with a bunch of Online Fish and Coral stores going up for sale...

Just got an e mail about JustCoral.com... I know Fraggle Reef is up too... There is also exoticreefs.us and a few others less popular...

Seemed like a few years back OFS were popping up everywhere... I know there are extenuating circumstances for a couple of them, but still...

Just found it interesting... :D

I might have to do with delivery service..I know FedEx just dropped the ball on the corals i just order i got them a day and a half late.. they are very stressed and mildly bleached

Well, I'm sure it has to do with the "bad economy", increase in shipping costs, yada yada yada... Or course like anything else, if you've got the capital, nows the time to buy... ;)

That would make me very irritated.
Fed Ex is bringing me a watermelon tomorrow and I sure hope they aren't late:rolleyes:
Come to think of it Fed Ex was late with my order from reeftopia a few months ago but it was only by a couple of hours.
In Nashville Fed Ex was always early.

Back on topic:)

I think a few years ago the reef industry really took off and lots of new online stores opened up when people decided they could take their hobby and make a living from it or at least suppliment their income. Most were probably able to do ok until both the summer slow period and the economy have made that not as easy as it was.
I think sometimes people also start things and don't realize how hard/long they will have to work to make them viable.
Not commenting on any of these stores in particular just my thoughts on the state of affairs:)

Didn't think of this one... I can't imagine reefkeeping as work... Of course I used to think working with horses was fun...

I am changing career paths for personal reasons and not financial reasons. I love the hobby and the customers as well.

fedex must be dropping the ball all over the place...I traded here(rc) with a member and the tracking info said it would be here today by 8pm and I called when they werent and they said it may take up to seven days to get here it was supposed to take 2 days.
