So I have a handful of ricordias I've had a few in my tank for about 1 and a half months. Although they are hanging in there I don't know if they are as big as they should be or as bright as they could be.

I have a 17in tall tank with 2-250w 10k MH, 2-36in 96w atinic pc and 2-24in 65w 50\50 pc all about 11 inches off the water.

I have a rock placed mid height with three orange rics that are pretty bright, not too large but otherwise seem happy. Another rock with a multicolor ric placed high that seems to never really really open and seems to be faded since I got it from my LFS. Now mind you I've had them for a month or more so I figured if they were unhealthy I would have lost them by now. water flow is Med/Alt. I'm thinking placement may be playing a part and hope that I can get some input from some of you that have had some success keeping and having rics multiply in your tanks. I bought a killer blue today and want to make sure I don't lose the color this time around.

Feedback? light? waterflow? anything?

Thanx a million..... AGAIN.

Place them lower in the tank. maybe even on the bottom slightly shaded and see if they don't open up more. Ric's seem to do better further away from halides than common shrooms. Let us know how things go.

start low light with these guys and slowly acclaimate them every other week to a location that is not too bright.

I have two colonies of ricordeas on the bottom two sides of my tank under 2-250 10k bulbs. They are doing great! They just cant take a severe change in lighting or they will bleach out/shrivel on you.

+1 to all above posters. My rics reside in the far corners of my tank under MH. Under LED they are everywhere. Mine have multiplied like mad by keeping them in 'darker' areas. When I placed these in the middle-bottom of the tank, the growth completely ceased and they did not open nearly as large as previous.

Mine love high light, but its important to acclimate them to it. You can't just blast them with high light it they're not used to it. I have most of mine under 400w Radiums and they are very fat/healthy.
