Sounds like you are off to an awesome start! New tanks all go through changes in the stuff that blooms. A brownish diatom bloom is one of the early changes. Once it is cycled a little more, you can toss in some clean up crew items that generally do a good job of keeping things in check. Also, it's good you are using RO/DI from the start as that will help keep algae in check. The brown stuff you have may be the beginnings of some diatoms.

OK COOL I THINK IT WAS CAUSED BUY ME MOVING ONE OF THE ROCKS, WHILE PULLING IT OUT THE TANK TO CLEAN IT YESTURDAY. IT PASSED OVER ONE OF MY KORALIS POWERHEAD. THE INSTANT CLOUD OF DEBRIS WAS HUGE. I THINK THATS WHAT DID IT

Just part of the cycling process. My tank is doing the same right now and have been up for about 2 weeks. In about 2 more I will start adding my clean up crew.

No worries though just takes time. The more tap water you use though the worse and longer it will take.

the reason your skimmer has not been producing is that you dont have any fish waste for it to remove. I would suggest you shut it down for the time being. other than that you are off to a good start. remember, they are not instant. My tank truly took 5 to 6 years to get to the level I have it. but I didnt start off so good. didnt have a board like this.

What pump you got with that 240?

Mine produced foam before i even added rock and hasn't stopped since.

Well I think I just didn't have the fine tunning done on my skimmer.
I am using a quiet one 6600. It is powerful enough because I had to put a gate valve on the intake line to turn it down.
I was worried since that pump was not pressure rated. But i think its doing ok now. I have to empty the collection cup 2 times a day. But since this is the only pump i have tried i have nothing to compare the output to. What is running yours?
i went to emerald bay today and bought a box of IO. And a large sack of brillo algae. I hope its not to soon to add. I guess its to late now
