OK, I'm basically begging for a frag of green star polyp

Hi all,
I recently set my up my nanotank after a long hiatus from the hobby. I was wondering if anyone around the SF area could GIVE me a frag of the fast growing Green Star Polyp that I sometimes see around the Bay Area and at the last BAR frag swap. The GSP that I'm thinking of is super neon green and has long tentacles. I'm pretty sure this coral is common and was hoping to avoid having to pay an LFS for it.

My hope is that one day my entire back wall of my tank will be covered in the stuff. I've seen it done before and it looks pretty darn cool.

Anyways, I would be super appreciative to anyone who could spare a small frag. I can repay you on a future date with a nice frag of something once my tank's corals grow a little bit.

Thank you,
Patrick

you know we actually saw a medium sized rock of GSPs at an LFS up in Sac... for $75 :eek1: My wife had to ask me to come over and make sure her eyes weren't playing tricks on the price tag *sigh*, it is amazing what the LFS will sell corals for to unsuspecting patrons.

We have some GSP that we would be happy to give you a bit off (it grows like a weed), but I fear that we are quite a ways away from you. We will be in the Campbell/SJ area this Saturday, though, if you are interested.

We keep ours isolated, on a little "island" near the middle of our tank, with plenty of open sand between it and any of our rockwork :). I actually laughed out loud when someone was selling some "sand polyps" verion of GSP, that their main selling point was that it would grow over sand.. heck, the fact that most don't was it's main selling point for us :D

got some i can frag off for you if you want, i'm in oakland though.. pm me if you want to make the trip..

yeah sparkss, i thought i did the same thing with the 'sand trap island,' but a rock rubble bit fell between it, i got a bit lazy moving it back, next thing i knew it started growing on a foundation rock in my rockwork.. don't know how to get it off, but trying to cover it to slow growth.. not working so far.. sucks..

Hey Patrick, if it's the same GSP that you had in your 40g(?) a few years back that you gave me a frag of, then I have some for you. And I'm in San Jose.

Thank you all for your responses. I actually just moved to San Francisco and have not updated my profile.

Thanks again
Patrick

P.S. Funny story about the "sand polyps" Sparkss

Patrick,
I have a frag that you could have. I go to Hastings (get me a job! :)) and i could bring it to school if you'd like to meet up with me. Let me know.
