Yep who has them? what kind? and what would you do differently now its been running awhile? What about bubbles?
I am dedicated to putting a large surge system in my new (1000 gallon) reef, I have searched for 3 weeks and stayed awake several nights :reading: trying to figure out a way to keep air bubbles out of the tank with traditional methods (carlson and flapper systems)....Is it possible? I think it is, but I might be crazy before I get it right.
Do you have a "bubble free surge"?
Here is a short list of what I have been thinking/trying.
1. Using a carlson or flapper, surge drain water through a series of baffles to let air escape before it hits the tank...
2. How about using a giant bladder system to make up the "tank" so the sides just collapse in as water flows out to keep air from entering the pipe at all? although I am sure it will just drain as it fills.....hmmmm.
3. How about some sort of valve to keep the last little bit of water from flowing out that contains the bubbles? maybe a power ball valve set to turn on and off every 45 seconds on a 50 second surge, although timing might be impossible.
I don't know, just random ideas for you to think about...What are your thoughts/ideas?
