ok to use silica sand?

Is is ok to use silica (quartz) sand instead of aragonite. Trying to save some money.

yep alot of ppl now have been using silica sand the only main prob. with this sand is it is harder than other sand which means it will scratch alot more if your cleaning your tank and it gets stuck in the brush

anyone know where I can find that stark white quartz sand? have found the play sand but I would really like to find the real white stuff.
