Hey fellow reefers,
Just wanted to get an idea what reef shops i should plan on visiting when i come to memphis next weekend oct 24th.

Any good suggestions

As far as I know there are only two Memfish (East Memphis) and Kermit's Reef (Cordova) both are very friendly stores with great stuff!

What everyone seems to forget is that Article CLVXII, Sub 21, Paragraph 3, Line 8-10 of the WTMRAC Charter CLEARLY STATES that "any reef afficinado visiting from parts here-to-for dissimilar to Memphis, Cordova, Germantown or any such hamets residing within or directly bordering the state of Tennessee MUST BRING to the second president (Barrett Shumaker, Esq.) a modest fragment of their most exotic coral presently residing within their home aquaria. A "modest fragment" entails a 4-7" live specimen acquired from its parent colony within the previous 24-48 hours.

I really hate to throw the book at ya, but hey, them's the rules :fun4:

There is also "Something Fishy" on Whitten Road, but their prices are insanely high. I mean like double what the other LFS's ask.

Barrett, you Nut! (I'm dying over here!)

And JC8745, One Reef is exactly right:
"Something Fishy" on Whitten Road is Only used to bolster our favorable opinion and admiration about Kermit's & MemFish. Ken, while a nice enough guy, is STOOPID with his prices, AND they do absolutely NOTHING to support this Club or its Members.

Occasionally, about once every year & a half, I'll wander in there, just to see if my previous disdainful opinion of the place has changed, and I leave empty handed, again shaking my head. It's as if they don't even TRY to cater to the local Retail market, and hold out merely for the wholesale & commercial accounts, or worse: some poor unsuspecting sucker. I mean, the guy is sitting on beaucoup dry-goods inventory. Many of the specimins are nicely sized, but are they "œturning"? And who's buying it?

I once asked about a cool fish they had (priced at about 250% of market, btw) and the kid they had working there said they have had it in their tanks for nearly 2-years. (!!!) Dave, Richard, could you IMAGINE??:eek1:

(As a supply-chain guy, I'd be forced to torture somebody"¦.)

i plan on posting some pics of my tank later today or tomorrow.
Just in case i have something that anyone might want there for a trade.

I need to find out where the hotel will be, and where the soccer feilds are, we coming there for the Adidas Wolf River Classic Soccer Tourney, so i plan either being at the tourney or looking for the lfs.

When i read that i understood that the 2nd President would be providing the guest member that exotic live specimen. I understood this to be out good nature, to promote good relations between the 2 clubs.

:-)

JC -
I used to Manage a Lobo's squad, and still have two other teams I coach. Your coming to the MRSC at 385 & the Forrest Hill Irene exit. http://www.mikerosesoccercomplex.com/

MemFish is 15 mintues away, if you get lost, and Kermits is about 20.

Nice looking stuff btw.

JC, we need to do some trading bro-ham! I'm wanting to get a piece of the green birdsnest fo-sho, and is the purple haze the one with the blue rings? PM me. Oh yeah, is the light colored acro with the beginning of some blue tips a Lary Jackson by chance? And the eagle-eye zoas are nice.

I never have been able to take a photo that captures the actual color of the corals,
The Acro, is a Tri-Colored, the tips are actually purple. Not sure if its a Lary Jackson, it was one that we brought into our clubs annual fragging meeting, we bring in bulk peices of various corals, we get to frag and keep corals.

I had a couple of other acro's from that meeting, but my rbta has turned into a monster and stung them. Those skeletons is what protects the tri colors right now.

Thanks everyone for the feed back,
I plan on mapping out the the hotel, soccer feilds and lfs tomorrow.
Mako, thanks for the info on the fields,
