Had to take down tank 18 months ago no place to put LR so I put it out side on plastic tray. Was rained on, sat in rain water from time to time, leaves fresh water algae (green and slimmy). Now to question, can or should I use this rock again, it was origionaly from fiji. I have it in rubbermaid on patio with hi flow pump and NSW (1 week). How much live rock needed to seed it fast? will the fresh water algae growth be a problem? Its about 70 lbs total weight. The more I look at at it, the less I think it will be worth the effort or potential issues. Any one who has done this please share, Im all ears.

I had my live rock on the patio for about two month(dry) and the best thing to do is keep in out for a week or two more and make sure it stays dry, let all of the FW algae die and scrub the rocks. Once this is done place it in the tub with saltwater, pumps, heater for a week or two then put in about 10-15 lbs of nice LR to ssed it. Yuo might want to do a few water changes to help remove the smell? That just my 2 cents. Good luck.
