My biggest gripe with the Olympus waterproof/shockproof cameras: There isn't necessarily a right setting. The control selection is rather sad, but the less controls on a submerged camera, the easier to keep them water tight! While this means you can put the camera under water, it also means you have to take the camera's word concerning what settings it picks for you.
If you post the model numbers of your camera and such, we could possibly give specific advice. Post the picture that aggravated you to post this thread while you are at it.
