One of my chromis are dead.

I looked in my tank today and noticed one of my chromis had died.

I notice my damsels are picking on my chromis. They are chasing them around the tank. I'm wondering what would cause this? I'm not sure if the damsels are chasing them because there are now only 3 chromis and no longer 4, or if the damsels had killed one of my chromis.

As far as I'm concerned, my damsels used to never pick on my chromis. Now they are. What would cause this?

I was also thinking maybe my electric blue hermit killed it.

Hmmm, another theory I've come up with. Is it possible for fish to kill other fish if the bio count is too high?

Now that one of my Chromis is dead, my black cap basslet is roaming freely. He used to stay in one of the corners in my tank and occupy very little room.

If damsels could get bigger, even sharks would fear them. As stated, they hate everything that isn't them, and then some.

Just another thought. Chromis are pretty notorius for murdering thier own kind. It's a pecking order thing and the lowest fish is sometimes killed off. Some folks have great success with shoals of chromis, but others start off with 10 and wind up with 2.

Try returning them to your local fish store. The one I've recently visited will refund 50% of their current price s'long as they're in healthy condition.

I don't encourage anyone to buy a damsel for cycling purposes, but it seems so many people do it that my LFS has managed to make quite a profit off of pimping them out.

(I know you didn't buy them for cycling purposes.)
