Two juvenile black clowns in QT. One looks good, one looks horrible. They have been in QT for about a week now. I fresh water dipped them both before QT. While in QT they have been on API Triple Sulfa bacterial fish disease treatment. I've gone 2 full rounds of it, did a 25% water change yesterday and started another round (exactly what instructions say to do). The one clown that looked bad was looking better and better each passing day.
This morning he looks horrible. One eye is super cloudy, and his fins are torn up bad. He had a very tiny amount of fin rot (maybe not even rot) on the edge of one of his main tail fin when he entered QT, but I didnt even call it fin rot because it was so minor, just the edge clear part was a little frayed. Today most of his bottom fins look shredded, just from over night. They were perfect yesterday.

Do you think the clowns are fighting? I've never seen them go after each other. They were both eating like pigs yesterday. I'll see what they do today, i haven't fed them yet.

The other clown looks perfect. eyes are good, fins are good.
I was about to start a round of prazipro this evening.

1.026 salt
79 temp
8.2 ph
tested ammonia yesterday at around .1-.2.
20 gallon QT, filter is running but no carbon in it due to medications.

It's the one with the full bar in the middle. He has a mis-bar on his tail.

Just fed them (new life spectrum pellets). They both chased the pellots around the tank and caught them. They're activity is normal, they're eating as well. It's just so wierd that all his fins would look horrible just over night.

i usually put my fish in a 20 long qt for 4-6 weeks. i don't medicate or dip them unless i suspect/see disease. if I do, then i either do TTM or prazipro.
Just make sure they are eating and do WC every 3 days. I also have one of the ammonia badges and run a HOB with just floss. I usually have a piece of LR in there with pvc pieces.
Just watch them closely and hopefully they both make it.

The bad one had cloudy eyes (pretty badly) so thats why I started the bacteria treatment. I'm running a HOB filter with floss in it right now as well. Also a power head is in the tank. Small one, MJ1200 does like 280 gph I think.
