Opinions on Pentax K100D

I know it seems that everyone is using Cannon and Nikon digital SLRs but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Pentax K100D. My father and I both have K1000 35 mm. Bottom line is we have a many lenses from the K1000's. The K100D is suposed to be compatible with "any Pentax lens ever made" This camera body would save me 1000's in lenses if it is the same quality as their film cameras. Thankyou for any insight. Someone posted in this forum lots of pictures with his K10D and they were very good. Pentax puts more of their money into the cameras rather than advertisements. That's why they don't have as big a name as Nikon, Canon.

I have had a Pentax K10D for a few months. It was my 1st DSLR so it took a little getting use to. Here are a couple of samples of misc shots.

I've had a K100D for a few months and love it. My favorite part is that you can buy old manual lenses off of Ebay for a fraction of what new lenses cost. Here are a few pictures I've taken with it:

It'll be noisier at high ISOs than Canon, or Nikon's newer stuff but otherwise should be fine.

Any DSLR on the market right now is capable of excellent results when used properly.

I have a K10D and really like it. I'd look to get the K10D over the K100D - I'm guessing there will be some really good prices on it since the K20D just came out. The big selling point for me was the built in image stabilization which Canon and Nikon don't have. You also might look into the Olympus line. I got my dad the Evolt 510 for Christmas and he has taken some really nice shots with it.

To be fair, both Canon and Nikon had image stabilization before Pentax. They just put it in the lens where it's more precise. Doing at the sensor requires much more correction.

Not beerguy, but I can help you with that.
Noise refers to the grain you see in a picture.

Left is noisy and right is not so noisy.

edwing206 Thank you for clearing that up. Just a new term to describe an old condition. Either way grain or noise is bad.
