I was hoping I could get some opinions of some good corals that I can keep in this tank, I am running out of ideas. The tank is
48x15x15 I have 6 65 watt PCs and plenty of flow with a tunze 6080 and a tunze 6045. Coral list consist of

Massive colony of green and pink stars
Cup coral
Pom Pom Xenia
Large hammer
Bam Bam Zoas

What I have in mind to add so far

Torch coral
Frogspawn
More Zoas
was thinking of a sun coral

Any Ideas would greatly help!!

They'll all do fine. Just depends on placement. I wouldn't do SPS though unless you upgrade lighting.

Thats a lot of light over a shallow tank and even though pc's, you should be able to keep most anything and some have even kept sps under pc's when keeping them up high especially with 6 bulbs.

whom is this chadscamaro guy and what does he know about corals???

Chad give me a buzz or do you want me to call you on the zoa trade. You never got back to me if you had any cool shrooms to trade?

How about some leather, colt coral, nepthyea, gorgonian, maze coral, etc?

Thanks guys. Nook I will look those up I haven't heard of the nepthyea. Does anyone know much about wall hammers? The one I just got looks great he has been in the tank for three days now but some of his tentacles I guess you can call them look deflated on one of the ends. I'm not too sure of the characteristics of these so any help would be appreciated. I just want a heads up of what to expect from this guy. Most of what I have read hasnt been to helpful.

You should always do some research on anything before you buy it. Yea we know that is hard to do too LOL, I would agree with chadscarmaro, However if you really want things to grow and succeed try different lighting. JMHO here, but PC are the worst type of lighting and have to be replace very rapidly or they'll cause mass algae growth. I would start out slow and watch growth rate and over all success, once you are sure of that, maybe a few frags of sps from other reefers to test would be the best way to go. If you can keep them alive and thriving under PC's then at least you didn't lose any corals as well as money.

Try feeding the wall hammer some silver sides, or if you can find them, some uncooked still in the shell shrimp (fresh). Just remove the tail/shell and depending on the size of your hammer cut it in half or feed one whole shrimp. They'll also eat all the rest of the frozen foods like Mysid, brine shrimp and clams. Try to use something like a turkey baster to slowly spray it just slightly past the hammer tips or on them.

Thanks for the facts stupid. HAHA I had to do that. I'm actually in the process of putting 2 250 watt MH on this tank with either 2 or 4 65 watt PC actinic. I have to build a cap. I understand that PC's are pretty much dead in this hobby which is why I will be upgrading soon. I have always had luck with PC's but I am very interested to get started with MH.

Hey if your having luck/sucess with what you are doing and you are truly happy with it, why change then?? I changed from MH to T5's for 3 reasons a) heat issues b) to easy up on my power bill even if it was only $1.00 per month However I was using very old 1970 style ballest too and c) I had the extra dough at the time and if I didn't do it right away the wife was going to spend it all!!!!

I was also thinking of doing the T-5 tek light fixture. I just have'nt decided what to do yet. Both options are close to the same price. I was thinking of the 6 bulb fixture.
