On my 75 gal setup, I have my Overflow near the left center of the tank.

My return is on the right side of the tank near the corner pushing water towards the front center. Also the same with my canister filter.

I would like to add some more flow. I'm thinking either a Seio 820 or 1100 powerhead. The fish seam happy having some current to swim against. Its nothing geat now. Combined around 800 to 850 gph.

Which pump would you use out of the two given and where would you position it? Is it bad to have all your flow in 1 direction? Have at diff. levels in the water column?

This is basically a FOWLR setup. I'm cosidering adding some low light corals. Some Mushrooms and polyps maybe down the road.

Any thoughts?

Also, I've decided my next fish will Indeed be a Copperband butterfly. I have Matt @ Eddies holding one for me when they come in this week. Any husbandry experiences i should be aware of?

On the CBB: make sure it eats before you buy it. Also be cautious with tank mates. They are easily intimidated.

On the Seio 820 I have one in my 55 and I needed to turn it all the way down so its more than adequate for a 75. I also use two MJ 1200 with the Hydor "flo" attachment.

If you have any aggressive fish - or even moderately aggressive - I would get the Copperband eating well in a separate tank before adding to your main tank, even if it eats at the store. Otherwise you'll have a hell of a time getting it to eat in your tank.

Most of them seem to prefer Mysis. In the beginning they seem to only go after the big mysis like P.E. but will eventually eat the smaller Hikari mysis. Both types are sold at Eddies, but the P.E. is quite a bit more expensive.

for the copperbanded, I have never had them not take to frozen mysis shrimp within 3 days.
For the flow, no real way to tell- just try it in different places and see where it seem best.

Tankmates as of right now would be our:

Powder blue tang
Ornate Wrasse
Marron Gold stripe clown
2- Algae blennies
Porc puffer

Is it conceivable ?

I'm also seriously considering putting the puffer up for adoption. Any ideas on the best way? LFS be interested in a 6-7" Porc puffer in excellent condition? We've had him since the beginning and he just isn't going to fit out plans for the future!:(:( Will be hard to part with him...:(

Eddies only holds fish for 24 to 48 hrs right? So whats the best way to handle getting one?

Pay for the CBB and pick up 1 to 2 days later and check to see if feeding? Take home and QT for 2 or 3 weeks? Then add.

These are wild caught fish, and to be honest, might not eat for a few days until in your home tank. Having it in quarantine makes it easier some think for them to not get freaked during the feeding frenzy. I'm not sure I think that is the case for all fish, and from watching some of mine upon introduction (I don't quarantine- bad practice I know) they seem to learn from watching the other fish. That has been my experience.

Some stores date arrival of fish- such as DJL, which tells you it has been in. The b-fly's don't seem as disease susceptible IME compared with Angels and Tangs.

I would bet money that the Powder Blue is going to beat up on the Copperband and at the least send it into hiding for at least a week or two. If you're lucky, you'll be able to get food to it, but based on my experience with 4 different Copperbands, it's going to watch the food flow right past it's mouth.

If you don't want to put the Copperband in isolation to get it eating, I would at least set up an egg crate divider to cut the tank in half and give the Copperband it's own space. But even doing this, you may still be out of luck if it goes into hiding and you can't get food to it. This will also make the Powder Blue a bit more receptive to the new fish when the divider comes down.

If you're Powder Blue is aggressive as my Achilles, it will go after the Copperband with a vengeance if you just drop it in without taking any precautions.

I have not added any fish in sometime. When i did add new tankmates he seemed to be okay. I have seen him chase my wrasse but that rarely ever happens.. I may get lucky with his personality. Hard to say.

My plans are to stay with a 4ft tank.. I would like to get a 120 RR 4x2x2 possibly Oceanic but if to costly then an AGA.

Don't listen to me when it comes to dealing with tang personalities. Only one I ever had was a small-medium mimic tang. Very minor harassment to fish at all. Never had a bully to deal with.
