Sticks Suck!
Yesterday, we brought our second frag tank on line.

Now, I would like you to guess the water volume of the left tank(first one) versus the right one (new one).

Hmmmm lets see... I say the left tank has 45gallons in it? Do I get a prize? lol I love the prop tank. I am setting up a small one for mushrooms because my current tank has to much light and flow and I cant get enough of mushrooms.

P.S. Got anything for sale from the tank on the left?

Rogger, you got it.
The left one is 48 x 18 x 10 (water height)
The right one is 60 x 18 x 8 (water height)
When I plugged that into the volume calculator, I couldn't believe what I saw, they are both exactly 37.4 gallons each...... doesn't the right one look a lot bigger?

So they are both 37.4 gallons each? The one on the right looks alot bigger, that surprized me. Both are beautiful tanks though. I wish I had the room for those.

On another note, where did you purchase those frag tanks at? I am currently looking for one something in the area of(24x15+x10+) give or take on the width and height.

Thanks

-Matt

The left one is acrylic and I had it made at ACE Acrylics in Hialeah, the same guy that made the sump for my big tank. The right one is glass and I bought it used.

Yes T5's, 8 x 54 W. I will have T5's on the new one also, but only 6 x 54 W. I am doing zoas, paly's, encrusting gorgonians, leathers and mushrooms for now.

that makes sense 2" diff x 6 feet =12

60-48=12

Same

48x18x10=8640/231=37.4
60x18x8=8640/231=37.4

but your right they look different sizes:rollface: :rollface: :rollface:

I've been considering starting a prop tank to start growing corals for my next reef next year!

What kind of biological filtration is used in these tanks? How does it work with no live rock?? I'm confused.

Both tanks share one sump. I have some live rock rubble and cheato in one part of the sump and a protein skimmer in the other part. I also have a UV sterilizer hooked up. I do weekly water changes of 30%. I have a bunch of snails and hermits in there aswell. No fish, so I don't feed.
