A reputable fragger sold me this as ORA Hawkins a few years back, but it hasn't ever developed the blue tips in my system and I'm wondering if perhaps it is something else. I'd love to hear your opinions. Thanks!
Thanks for your input Darryl! For whatever it's worth, here is the colony in the other guys system before he fragged it. To me it looks more like the typical Hawkins growth stucture in his tank and it seems to have very subtle hints of blue at the tips. Is it possible my tank environment just brought out a different growth structure & color, or are you pretty confident there is no way this is Hawkins? Thanks again for your input!

Im guessing you have never seen a hawkins colony? If you have I think you would easily be able to tell the difference. Im not sure of the species of that coral (species does seem similar but hawkins being more delicate and less tubular/blunt coralites) but it is definitely different than hawkins (turaki). Also the color appears way too green (alhtough hawkins can be teal) and no your tank conditions could not have done this. I would ask the guy with the mother colony where his "hawkins" originated from.....might answer the question right there.
So yes Im 100% sure its not a hawkins but its a nice coral and looks healthy so not all is lost.
