Orange Torch - Help!

I wasn't around much yesterday, notice my single headed orange torch was retracted. First time I noticed it. Just came home from work to find this... Never saw anything like it before. The only thing I've done differant recently was add a little white vinegar to my Kalk water. (3ml per liter of Kalk) 3 or 4 days ago. I'm using Kalk for all my top off, have been for a few weeks to a month. Yesterday my parameters were Alk 9, Calc 470, Mag 1400 Will retest water next.

Everything else looks normal...

Unfortunately I'm not as optimistic as Adam....I would pull it and call it gone IMO. If some of the brown jelly gets on your other euphyllias, you may have more of the same issues.

Whenever this has happened to me, I use a baster and carefully remove as much of the jelly as possible. I've never saved one ;(

I took the baster and tried to suck as much as I could off.. It sucked up most of the torch. Some of the jelly did scatter in the water column, is there anything I should/could do to protect the the other euphyllias?

If the jellified torch is still in close proximity to the others I'd def move it....a small amount of jelly in the water isn't the end of the world, you just want to be sure to get most of it out and not on the other euphys.

I didn't mean to seem so pessimistic, I just haven't had luck personally saving one that was that far gone...best of luck!

I would just like to specify that this is something that should be done in a isolated container after being removed from the aquarium.

Doing so in the DT, as Matt mentioned, can suspend the bacteria in the water column, further heightening the risk of spread.

Here's a great write-up about Brown Jelly Disease. Sorry for the loss, Dan!

Thx for the link Johnny, I'll be sure to check it out. Sucking not blowing with the baster... My problem was breaking off the torch from the rock.... That scattered some of the jelly/slime into the water..

Yea I def wouldn't blow it all over the tank lol. I suppose I should have mentioned to slurp it up.

Everyone bite your tongues lol...i know those statements are "perfect targets!" ;)
