The ORCA website forums will be turned off at ~8:00 a.m. this coming Sunday, January 13th for some much needed maintenance.

The maintenance will be completed and the forum should be back up approximately two hours after it is turned off.

Hey Jim,

I was thinking this might be a better avatar for you

You all need to know that Jim is really stepping up to the plate and that these updates should be a real step in the right direction.

Thanks Jim.

Anything going on today as I can get to the forums page but anytime I click on a particular forum...it's empty.

Only a desperate need to move our site to a new server... our existing provider/host has us on a server that's limping along at best. It is the root of many of our issues right now.

Hang in there campers, I know the OCA web really tests everyone's patience :sad2:.

Moving the web site will cost some dollars, and any time we do anything that costs $$$ the Club's BoD has to be informed and give approval... It's simply the process that has to be done to protect the club's membership from "evil doers" :spin2:

That being said, te bOd is meeting in just 8 short days and will vote on a new web site to move to. Afterwhich the move will happen and all will be right with the world

Hang in there. We're just around the corner.

Thanks all.

BoD meetings are typically large with all BoD members present, averaging 10 or more people. The pace is fast, covering a great deal of club buisness in a short period of time. There are no distractions and we use Robert's Rules to keep our schedule moving along. It might seem a little strict or boring to someone watching.

Due to the nature of these extremely important and busy meetings, we don't generally as a rule open up invitations to the general membership. These are not social gatherings, instead very imporatnt meetings where we get a lot accomplished. Any club member is allowed to attend. The by-laws state that anyone can attend, however I would ask that unless you're genuinely interested in contributing than reconsider attending.

If you are interested in getting actively involved with the club or simply wish to attend. please email me with a good number to reach you at and I'll give you meeting details.

Thanks for your understanding

Matt

ATTENTION!

The ORCA website Is back up and functional, albeit with a couple of minor hiccups!. Over the next few days, the web administration team will be working to iron out those hiccups and make the pictures and logos, etc. functional again. The good news is that some criticval items were updated with needed security patches and all seems to be functional!.

Hey Jim and Lute....I am having a really tough time with the site over about the last 18 hours....it keeps locking up, disappearing, being unavailable etc....

Is this universal, or does it just HATE ME!!!!?????

Our current provider is having MAJOR issues with the particular server that our site is being hosted on and thus the web admin team and BoD is identifying alternate providers to do business with. We hope to have the performance issues resolved in ~1 week or less.

We're sorry about that. But, maybe it is just you :D

Just kidding.

The software the website runs on has already undergone a significant upgrade but that will not be readily apparent to users.

We're setting up a test site on a different host right now and hope to resolve the performance issues, like Jim said, soon.

Thank you for your patience with this.
