I currently have an orchid dottyback in my 75g reef. Could I add a purple firefish and royal gramma without too much trouble? I have only two other fish, neither is a bottom dweller.

I think the orchid dottyback is one of the more subdued in temperament of the group, but I had a neon pseudochromis I had to pull from my 75 because he was harassing wrasses and ocellaris clownfish. He now lives with a cinnamon clown and larger melanarus wrasse in a 40. The three seem to keep each other largely in check.

P. fridmani is the least aggressive pseudochromis; however firefish are very easily intimidated so my subjective guess is that it would be 50/50

ok, i think i will go for it but i will keep an eye on the situation. hopefully the royal gramma will take up most of the dottyback's attention until things get settled.

I'd say as long as you have plenty of boltholes for your firefish and he isn't being constantly chased, you should be alright.

I have kept an orchid dottyback with a pair of standard fire fish in my 25gal with minimal live rock and they were fine. The dotty back was much more interested in exploring the nooks and crannies and chasing it's reflection than anything. I would still have him if I didn't get my bluestripe pipe. You should be fine!
