Ordered Basket Starfish!

I got the starfish! They seem to be alright, one of them did loose a leg or to tho. They are currently acclimating to the tank.

Here are a few pictures that I took an hour ago.

I just finished acclimating them to the tank 10 minutes ago! Acclimated them for a total of 5 hours and 10 minutes. They seem to be doing well so far.

With such an extensive acclimation did you do anything to take care of the ammonia/PH issue? Long acclimation is not always a good thing, in fact many will tell you it's far worse then a short one if you do not take precautions such as taking care of the ammonia prior to the PH rising and making it far more toxic to the animals.

The water was pretty clean. I acclimated the same way I did before when I got my other 2 Basket Starfish when I had the 180 gallon.

can you use amquel with these inverts?

Hmmm was it Amquel or Amquel Plus that you could use or shouldn't use? I seem to have fogotten that one :( I know just where to look in my office though, good thing I save my note books

I do know you can use Cloram-X.

Visually was clean, or tested clean? Ammonia is a hard one to gauge visually, although I swear at higher concentrations I can tell there is an issue :D

I'm sure you're fine as I suspect the shipper cleaned them out and used lotsa water. The last thing a shipper wants is for you to get a DOA.

Visually clean. Its was a tad cloudy, but that's it. It wasn't green or yellow.

Yeah, it was shipped in a lot of water.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The Bad news is, the big Basket Starfish fell apart and its almost completely dead. :(:sad1: The good news is that the smaller one seems to be doing well, its not falling apart or loosing any tissue. Both were in the same container when I drip/temp acclimated them. Maybe smaller ones have a better survival rate and adapt better than larger ones?
