Orlando Fl

I am going to Orlando soon (couple days) and I like to do things last minute. If anyone has suggestions, are there any places of interest (LFS, diving on either coast, beach preferences, or opinions about the usual attractions, etc.) you guys could help me on. I keep getting hassled about DW, but I feel that may be over-rated. I'll be there for a week, and plan on going to Atlantic, has anyone been there, and is there any thing I should watch out for?

Thanks to all my fellow reefers,

Nicole

Thanks, but "I feel that may be over-rated." Any other suggestions? Logik, would you like to take me to DW? You could try to convince me of the splendor and magic... maybe I am just too grown up to see the pixie dust.

Sea World would be fun, feed Dolphins, Rays, watch Shamu

better yet try Discovery Cove, maybe someone has a recent cancellation and you could get in, Do a little swim with the dolphins and stingrays. (you usaully have to have reservations in advance)

I also recommend deep sea fishing. (maybe you could catch your favorite moray :)

Then theres the largest McDonalds playland in Orlando.
(eat a happy meal while you play ski-ball) fun fun

Hollywood studios was fun last time i checked

check out the Wyland store (ya know the Artist Wyland)
google the store address, lots of amazing stuff there.

Theres a Ripleys believe it or Not attraction there in orlando as well.

Bring me back some sea shells please :)

Man, thought discovery cove was farther south. Checked on line and what a co-ink-i-dink. Only opening is for today and tomorrow, whole of the week I am in town all taken up. Guess cuz of Fathers Day.

Thank for the tips, it really sparked some research for me and I think I may go SeaWorld. Sure, you can get some shells, but after Mike picks some. He got two big bags when I went to Gulf Shores, so he'll have to share with you. I was planning on taking a lot of extra room in my suitcase for returning the oceanic paraphernalia.

I love Orlando. You are about one hour away from the water and if it rains you can always go to one of those parks. I spent 10 days down there last summer and loved every second of it... Don't waist your money on that club island "pleasure island" or whatever it's called right next to Downtown Disney. If you like the club scene go downtown or hit Universal... While you are @ universal there is a great band " Orange Avenue" playing every night...

The few times I went to FL I never left the water.

So I am no help.

I go in when day breaks and I can see if there are any ominous shadows in the water.
I get out when something bumps into my leg after the sun goes down.

That's fine, Letmegrow. What part FL did you visit? Any beaches you would reccomend? I don't wanna be around too many tourists. I like the more private, clean beaches.

I have only been to FortWalton, Panama City, Destin etc in the Pan handle.

I have been all the way to Miami but didn't get to stop and see the beach.

To avoid people I drove 7 miles down the interstate to a Federal/state(?) beach, there were 7 Mako sharks mating in 3ft of water, Pretty flippin awesome.

Back from FL, went to Cocoa Beach, thought it would be good, but it was really dirty. More happy with New Smyrna Beach. Got some shells at the former, the latter had few shells. Was near OrangeBlossom Trail, but didn't get chance to stop at the LFS. SeaWorld was the best experience! They have awesome SW tanks.

I've been to cocoa beach a couple of times and haven't been impressed, same with daytona beach.

Me and the wife went a couple years ago and Honeymoon island was nice beach. Also 1 hour south of there is Lake Okeechobee very cool place you can take a Air boat ride and get really close to some Gators. My grandparents have a place there and if you are interested I can call them and get the name of the town they live in.
