Okay folks I need to know what is your readings on your sps system? I also wanted to know what is a good range. As of right now my systems ORP reading is 530mv but I think this might be to high. Does any one know where it should be at. Also if its to high how do I lower it?
Thanks
Mario

Try cleaning you probe in vinegar. I don't think that's right. That is a super high reading.

the probe is brand spaking new. I also had a friend take a water sample and check it with his set up and it ready430 before I connected mine.

If it were really that high, you'd have deaths in the tank. Have you calibrated the probe? Is it near any other electrical equip? My ORP would always hover around 390.

mine reads that high recently on my controller. I knew it could not be correct. I asked randy in the Chem form. If you are not adding ozone or other oxidizers it is not possible for your reading to be correct. I need to clean and or calibrate my probe.

so if no addition of oxidizers it is a bad reading. If you are adding ozone your fish's gills would show burning at that level.

try to calibrate the new probe

iam using a pinpoint orp monitor and a coralife 50mg ozone but I have not does ozone for a while.

Very little will be alive : below 100 millivolt
Very Bad : below 140 millivolt
Bad : 140 to 180 millivolt
Poor : 180 to 200 millivolt
Too Low : 200 to 220 millivolt
New salt water : 220 to 240 millivolt
Low : 220 to 270 millivolt
Medium : 270 to 310 millivolt
Good : 310 to 340 millivolt
Better : 340 to 360 millivolt
Best : 360 to 390 millivolt
High : 390 to 450 millivolt
Too high : over 450 millivolt
Dangerous : over 525 millivolt
Very dangerous : over 575 millivolt

NP, I got that off of another ozone thread here on RC back when I first started researching ozone to add to our tank setup.. so I just "passed it along" :)

mchava- can you clairify are you using ozone or not. You said you have not been using it. If noto there is no possible way your ORP can be that high without some type of oxidizer being added. The reading is wrong. If you are using ozone it could be correct and is high enough you would notice the fish unhappy.
