Osmolator and Kalkwasser

I received my Osmolator today, read the manual and it says that use of calcium hydroxide can shorten the life of the pump. Has anyone expierenced this and how bad is it? I was planning on just using this in a bucket with kalk. How often am I going ot be buying a pump? Thanks for the info.

Well, my pump has been going on 18 months so far.
No worries, it is inexpensive to replace them.
So much so, I have a backup just hanging around until the day it is needed.

Same here. 12 months no problems so far. i leave mine suspended in the container though so its not touching the bottom where the kalk tends to build up. I also turn it off when I mix in the solid lime to make sure large particles arent sucked in. But this is like once a month because I have a 35 gallon container.

ditto .. only about six to eight months with it now, but like ralphie I keep mine suspended off the bottom of the tub, away from the paste.
Not sure if that helps, but I also clean it in a vinegar bath every now and again .. I simply put the pump into a container with vinegar and water, put the outlet tube into the same container and then lift the sensor for a few minutes at a time. This just circulates the solution through the pump for a while .. my goal is to loosen any build up inside the pump and tubing, i think it works.
Having a spare pump on hand is a good idea though, I'll have to do that.
