Osmolator malfunctioning

Roger,

I have an osmolator that is maybe about 2-3 years old and recently it has begun to simply not pump water into the tank any longer. I initially thought it must have been the metering pump and just replaced that, but that doesn't seem to be the issue either.

Basically when I power the unit on, it will not pump the little bit of water into the tank (as is normal when powered on). Also when the controller reads "low" and shows "pump on", no water is being pumped in.

There seems to be some corrosion right where the wires from both the controller and the pump meet. That little white "box" where you connect them both. I'm thinking this might be the issue? Can this be replaced by itself, or do you need to completely replace the controller?

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like the corrosion is preventing a good connection. You can cut off an inch or two of that wire (or more, if needed) to expose clean wire. It should be shiny. Redo the connection and try again.

Ok, so the culprit is most likely that little white connector between both sets of wires. I did "attempt" to clean the wires themselves, but the corrosion from within this connector was so bad, I couldn't even loosen the screws and eventually gave up and just ripped the wires out of the connector itself.

Unless there is a bad controller, it stands to reason the issue lies with just replacing this connector. How can I go about doing that? Any way you can lead me to a source that will sell just that part?

Thanks!

The fastest, easiest way would be to go to a nearby Radio Shack or other electronics supply store. You're looking for a European Terminal Strip... but there are other types of conectors that will work just as well.

If you have any difficulty finding one, just let me know.
