OT: Free Virus Scanner?

Anyone know of a good free virus scanner for the PC? I just setup a new PC for my little sister and I would like to find something to put on. Does anyone know if Kanawha County Schools offers free virus protection?

Thanks,

Last I saw AVG went to a pay service, or at least so I thought.

Clam a freeware program? Happy with it?

I still use AVG. http://free.avg.com/

I am a creature of habit, and this is what I have used for years. I dont know anything about any other free AV stuff. The only bloat I have noticed with it was with the most recent version. I had a very random, and very sporadic pop up that advertised their pay version. It did eventually stop bugging me.

Thanks guys, I will look into these. Off the tops of your head do all the above work for Vista? Does it matter if it is Vista 64bit?

im know i have clam running on vista 32, im 90% that i have it running on vista 64..

could just go to linux and not worry so much about virus issues..

I installed AVAST and it seems to be working fine so far. Install went fine as well as the first pass through. I have a copy of McAfee that is due to expire anytime so I might even try AVAST on my own system.

Ditto.

Clam is one I haven't heard about before so I may check into it.
