Hey guys, how do you restore deleted items on a network? I was using my laptop and accidentally deleted some files from my other computer, I don't see them on the trash where do they go?

Unfortunately, unless you have some sort of third party product installed, they go bye-bye.

It may be possible to restore them on the remote storage device, whether another computer or external drive or what not by using a product made to undelete files. It is tricky but the longer you wait, the less of a chance you will have in getting the file back as the location of the storage device will get used again and whatever was there before will be gone.

Is there like a network recicle bin? I have norton but it's not installed, if I remember correctly norton gives you a warning when istalling that you can't recover files from before, just after intallation, it's been a while.

Unless you have an undelete utility like norton or something maybe... deleting across a network i think is like using shift-delete to permanently delete things :(

Good luck with your recovery
(and we wont tell her about the porn you were trying to hide JK!)

The restore feature works if something you installed messed up your computer so you could use it to go back to a previous stage, my problem is I deleted some pictures (no porn) :)

Got it! I downloaded this "Restore utility" from downloads.com. And I was able to recover all the files !!
Thank you for all the ideas.
