From the Sun Sentinel.com:
Sometimes, I cater to the audience.
"I knew you'd enjoy the results of this exercise.
The AFC East has existed since the 1970 AFL merger.
The Colts moved out of the division in 2002.
So, from 1970 through 2001 (including the two strike years), it was possible for the other four teams to finish anywhere from first to fifth. From 2002 to 2008, it was possible to finish from first to fourth. If the teams had the same records, I ranked them based on the tiebreakers.
Here's how it came out....
Miami Dolphins: 14 first-place finishes. Average finish of 2.16
New York Jets: 2 first-place finishes. Average finish of 3.38.
New England Patriots: 10 first-place finishes. Average finish of 2.79.
Buffalo Bills: 7 first-place finishes. Average finish of 3.08.
(The Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts, for the record, had six first-place finishes.)"
I had no idea that the Jets have only won the division twice. No wonder they are always so mad at us...
