OT- Lighting without electric

I'm setting up a new canopy and I'm looking for quite a bit of light in there but I don't want to run electric to it.

Any thoughts on lighting for something like this without electric?

What about a wireless lighting system?

Sounds like you'll need hundreds of candles I guess! Are you talking about something like a solar tube?

Since it will be under the canopy, I can't use anything solar powered. I was just hoping for some kind of shop light that was wireless or battery powered. Or something that looks nicer. Just not sure how to do this

Ok, now you've piqued my curiosity. Tell me more of you plan please. I can't see a battery as a viable solution. why no electric?

Well, I'm not really sure what I'm asking either :lol:

Here is the canopy I bought. It has a hook at the top to put like a ceiling fan and I was looking to somehow add just a light without running electric as It would be too visible.

I may just be crazy

Ok, I got it now. Why not solar? Solar powered batteries. Harbor freight has a "shed light" we put on our dock. the panel is about 6 inches square and then you can hang the light where ever you want, very small, thin, black wires. Surley you could hide them SOMEWAY in that large of a canopy! You're too funny!

Does it work well? I've had some solar powered lights in the past and the solar panels become weathered and quit working

what about those circular push lights. They use them for track lighting and such, you can find them at walmart.

Looking at the "shed light" I'm not sure that will be enough light for what I'm looking for. Hell, I might just get a small generator

At the current gas prices you may as well run a few electrical lines from the house.

I can't really say about the longevity Justin. We put ours up last spring and it worked as of Thanksgiving but I haven't down there since. I will say though, it lights up the whole dock pretty good. I would think there is enough light that if it was above me my old eyes could see fine to play cards. we just use it at night when we are londing and unloading the boat and putting stuff away. I KNOW it is a lot quieter and cheaper than a genset!

Hmmm...Maybe I'll get capo out to hook up some electric and motion detectors

justin I'd say go with electric, put a switch at the entrance and a plug there incase you ever need something plugged in out side, you and I could do it in a day if you want but it will have to at least be mildly warm before i'm doing it
