OT: RWY vs component

since I just got my big screen some of the old fashioned devices have started to look crappy

one of those is my PS2

is it worth 20 bucks or so to upgrade from red white yellow to component for video?

I dont care about audio, I use optical for that, but the video quality is the concern

so can anyone say whether or not the different in quality between yellow wire and RGB component is worth the 20 bucks I'd have to pay for the PS2 component adapter?

I'm not really sure there. I do use the PS2 for a DVD player works just fine for me with the Red white & yellow wires.

my xbox 360 and dvd player is hooked up to big screen through component video of course got the expensive gold plated plugs and my satelite go through video input rca jacks. Component is better i think.

french do you need a component wire...I have one you can have for free...I switched to HDMI and ended up with an extra

that is if your sat has component outs

I don't know about component, but for my xbox I upgraded to s-video. I can tell absolutely no difference. Those cables were pretty expensive at the time too.

yeah I hear you on the S video....s video and yellow are both about the same, even though its suggested that s is better

component is definitely better than the others

my main question is if anyone could guess whether or not the quality of the game would be increased...for example, if the PS2 is not even capable of putting out great video, then it wouldnt be worth the money to upgrade cables

in the case of the XBOX 360 and other HD video games, that is another ball game

my 53" widescreen has 2 component video hook ups 4 video in which can be s-video or rca, hdmi hookup, coax hookup. Currently i got satelite box which uses rca cables for second tv hook up and s- video for my widescreen, i got dish network with one dual tuner/dvr, the 2 component video are used for dvd player and xbox 360, i guess the hdmi is for when i upgrade my dish network to high definition programming.

using nice component cables and audio cables with my new widescreen and 1000 watt surround system, definite improvement in digital picture and sound money well spent for good cables, if your gonna go big go all the way i say.

if it's widescreen then it'll look fuzzy since ps2 is not made for widescreen. this happened to me. I have my tv set in 1080. but when I didn't have the widescreen I noticed a small difference.

yesterday I got my hdmi cable for my dvd player and it's a true difference.

JxMetal : official parade rain onner

I'll just settle for slightly blurry tiger woods in widescreen then.....oh well

maybe someday I'll hook up the ps3, but not now

 just trying to save you the trouble and money. I thought it'd be awesome too when i got my widescreen, but then i was like "what the heck is this?!" So I got a 360.
