We are getting a pool and are considering on of those solar heater deals for the roof. Anyone use one? Does it keep the pool warm enough to use during the winter weeks...

I have had one. And they work great! But as mentioned they are ugly and some homeowners associations don't allow them.

You wont be able to use your pool in winter. It will extand your swim season 1 month apx each way (1 month earlier 1 month later)

newer heat pumps do a good job for rather low cost

I have a heater that reduces your A/C cost and heats your pool at the same time. It installs on the wall and its about the size of a phone book.

Are you talking about a heater for the pool or the water heater for your house?

The trend is swimming pools is no chlorine. They can now build them using uv but my guess is your going saltwater.

My tankless has 3x 60 Amp circuits and makes the lights dim when I turn on the water...Surely this pool one is more efficient?

The high pressure line of the AC is very hot. This is what the condenser coil is just a high pressure line. It's very hot and needs to be cooled to raise the efficiency of the unit. This is why there is a fan pulling air through the coil. What this unit does is cool the condenser coil by using the pool water in a gas to water heat exchanger. As this is done with a very small pump that runs 24hrs a day. The water pump is the size of a soda can. Since the coil is cool this means the fan on the condenser unit does not need to turn on. There is a thermal switch that controls the fan.

Sounds very interesting. Do you have a link to the product?
